Definition
A pitch deck is the visual spine of the pitch: a short set of slides that help someone decide. It supports the conversation. It is not the company, and it is not a 40-page PDF no one reads.
In the room
How the word shows up in a real conversation.
Ten slides: problem, product, proof, market, model, go-to-market, team, ask. The founder talks; the deck does not compete. That is a deck doing its job.
Common mistake
Writing paragraphs on slides. If the room can read it without you, you do not need to be in the room.
