Definition
A pitch is a short, structured argument for why someone should give you time, money, or a yes. It is not a company history. It is a decision tool: problem, who hurts, why now, why you, what you want.
In the room
How the word shows up in a real conversation.
A founder has twelve minutes. They spend one on the problem, four on the product and proof, three on the market and model, two on the ask. The investor can decide. A twenty-slide origin story is not a pitch.
Common mistake
Saving the ask for the last slide and running out of time. The ask is the point.
