Definition
Founder-market fit is the reason this person can see, reach, or serve this market better than a smart stranger. It can be years in the industry, a network, or a scar. Investors underwrite it because markets are crowded and insight is not evenly distributed.
In the room
How the word shows up in a real conversation.
A former CA builds GST software. They already know the filing calendar, the objections, and who holds the cheque. A generalist with the same Figma file does not have the same founder-market fit.
Common mistake
Confusing enthusiasm with fit. Wanting a market is not the same as being able to win it.
India note
In India, access often is the product: a CA network, a mandi relationship, a hospital group. Name that access honestly.
