How the word shows up in a real conversation.
Jane, CEO of an acclaimed retail clothing business, has achieved tremendous success in the last decade. She is constantly exploring innovative measures to enhance and augment profits. Her company's expansion to numerous sites across the nation is a testimony of her success and unwavering ambition.
Jane opted to conduct a more in-depth analysis of the financials. She specifically studied the income statement, with a particular emphasis on the "Net Income" figure at the bottom.
The net income of a business is calculated by considering the total revenue and then deducting all expenses, including cost of goods sold and operating costs.
Jane noticed that the business had been suffering from decreasing net income over recent months, since expenses were outpacing revenues. She concluded to take corrective actions to address this problem.
A detailed financial analysis revealed that a significant amount of money had gone into advertising, so it was decided to alter the advertisements to reduce expenditure. Additionally, it was decided to decrease employee salaries in order to decrease overhead expenses.
To increase revenue, the team decided to prioritize improving customer experience and boosting customer loyalty. This would ensure that customers keep coming back and create a more positive brand image.
We implemented a CRM system to help us better monitor our customer engagement and started offering loyalty schemes as part of our commitment to them. This allows us to provide tailored service that is specifically designed for each customer's individual needs.
After various changes were implemented, the net income rose significantly. This was due to a lower expenditure and higher revenue, which subsequently increased the bottom line. The outcome was very satisfactory and the cashflow is rigorously monitored to ensure sustained profitability of the business.
Jane implemented the idea of net income to bolster the fiscal well-being of the business. By monitoring costs and profits and making alterations to heighten net income, revenues raised and sustained the long-term prosperity of the enterprise.
Common mistake
Using Net Income as a label instead of a fact. If you cannot point to the evidence — a number, a customer, or a written assumption — you are using the word as jargon.
