Definition
A plan of action is a series of steps that you follow to achieve a certain goal. It's important to make sure you have a plan in place before you start working towards your goal.
In the room
How the word shows up in a real conversation.
In a Monday review, someone writes Plan of action on the board and restates it: “Detailed strategy outlining specific steps and activities needed to achieve business objectives and goals.” The next move is a test, a cut, or a double-down — not another debate about the word.
Common mistake
Using Plan of action as a label instead of a fact. If you cannot point to the evidence — a number, a customer, or a written assumption — you are using the word as jargon.
