Definition
Order backlog is a term used to describe the number of orders that are waiting to be fulfilled. This number can increase or decrease depending on the amount of orders that are placed and the amount of orders that are fulfilled.
In the room
How the word shows up in a real conversation.
A mentor asks, “What is your Order backlog?” The useful answer is concrete: accumulated orders that have been received but not yet fulfilled. A slide title is not an answer.
Common mistake
Using Order backlog as a label instead of a fact. If you cannot point to the evidence — a number, a customer, or a written assumption — you are using the word as jargon.
